We're back with “Heating up the Summer” Part Two! This time around I'm putting emphasis on three crazy bangers from a few insanely talented artists out of Troy, NY. Troy is another section of Upstate NY that has immense talent going unrecognized. Here's what's heating up Troy:
Kay the Kid – Bentley Trucks
On “Bentley Trucks,” Kay immediately attacks the beat with an immense amount of energy. He has a crazy high paced drill flow and doesn’t let up at any time throughout the song. You can really feel the passion and confidence of Kay in his voice. His lyrical content is all about chasing the bag! What really makes this song complete to me is Kay's delivery, as he delivers with such ease and floats throughout the track. Joey the Kid – 98' Honda
“98' Honda” is a track that everyone should be running up. Everything about Joey's sound is different. The troy rapper slid all over this drop/kick heavy beat. Joey has really mastered bringing such a hard, gritty, and loud presence to his tracks. Along with his innovative sound, he brings a lot of catchy punchlines throughout the song that really make the song a complete banger to bump. Big Gucci Liek – You right
Out of everyone on this list, I've been listening to Liek the longest. My favorite tracks are usually ones where he's laying down bar after bar. But here he brings a different, more melodic approach and he completely kills the song. He stepped a little out of his normal comfort zone to cultivate a perfect vibe for the summer, while not compromising his high-quality lyrical content.
